Chair: Ian Somerville (University of Leicester, United Kingdom) 


Dr. Ian Somerville is a Reader in the School of Media, Communication and Sociology at Leicester University. Current research interests are in the political public relations, terrorism and public relations, sport, communication and social exclusion and public relations pedagogy. His work has been published in a wide range of public relations and communication management journals and in various edited collections. Along with Gisela Gonçalves and Ana Melo he is editor of European Organisational and Strategic Communication Research: European Perspectives(2013).  He is a member of the editorial board of Public Relations Review and Public Relations Inquiry. In 2012 he was elected Vice-Chair of the ‘Organizational and Strategic Communication’ Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association. He is currently working on a major project, funded by the Northern Ireland government, entitled Social Exclusion and Sport in Northern Ireland 


Vice-Chair: Gisela Gonçalves (Universidade da Beira Interior | LabCom, Covilhã, Portugal)

Gisela Gonçalves (PhD and MA in Communication Sciences) is Head of the Communication and Arts Department and Professor of Public Relations and Strategic Communication at the University of Beira Interior (UBI, Portugal). She is an integrated researcher at LabCom - Online communication Lab, where is currently involved in the Project "New Media and Politics", funded by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT). Her main areas of interest are Public Relations Theories, Communication Ethics and Government Communication.

She is a member of IAMCR (International Association for Media and Communication Research), EUPRERA (European Public Relations Research and Education Association) and of SOPCOM (Sociedade Portuguesa de Comunicação). Gisela is a reviewer of several international peer-review journals and a member of the editorial boards of "European Journal of Communication", "Communication Studies" and "International Business and Economics Review".Along with journal articles and book chapters, her recent publications include “Public relations ethics” (2013) and the co-edition of the book “New media and political communication (2014) and the co-edition of the ECREA book “Organizational and Strategic communication research: European Perspectives I, II” (2014, 2015) and co-editor of "Strategic Communication for Non-Profit Organisations" (2016).

 Vice-Chair: Isabel Ruiz Mora (University of Malaga, Spain)

After one year working in the UK, Isabel returned to Spain and she works at University of Malaga teaching in the BA Advertising and Public Relation and BA of Media. She holds a PhD in Organisational Communication (CSR and Public Relations in large Spanish companies) and a MA in Strategic Communication. Her current research is focused on CSR, the role of stakeholders and publics to create spaces for dialogue; also she is interested in new methodologies of teaching in Communication studies. She is involved in different projects about lobby and communication in Spain, SME’s and PR and development of indicators of social profitability for the media.  Isabel is editor of the academic journal Revista Internacional de Relaciones Públicas (International Journal of Public Relations), an open source journal developed in 2011 to spread specific knowledge related with Public Relations and Strategic Communication. She also is reviewerof several international peer-review journals. Her recent publications include “Public information and communication for public participation in Spain” (Vernon Press, 2016) and “Reluctant to talk, reluctant to listen: Public relations professionals and their involvement in CSR programmes in Spain” (Public Relations Review, 2016).
